A coastal hiking plan in Brittany, France: follow the GR34 from Trestraou through the pink-granite headlands to Mean Ruz lighthouse and Saint-Guirec beach. The three stops below describe the outward walk; you can return along the same marked path. This is a planning guide, not a firsthand trip report. Images are illustrations.

For the outward route, allow roughly 85–90 minutes walking plus 45 minutes of breaks, about 4.5 km. For an out-and-back, allow about 150–180 minutes walking plus breaks; the local tourism office lists 9 km return. Distances and connection times here are planning estimates, not GPS measurements. Easy in good conditions, but uneven stone, steps and exposed coastal sections require suitable shoes.

Start at Trestraou, behind the Centre Nautique. Take the signed red-and-white GR34 west toward Ploumanac’h. Sea views gradually give way to rounded pink boulders and heathland. Stay on the marked path rather than climbing the rocks.

Pause near Mean Ruz lighthouse for the rocky coastline and sea views. This stop is for the exterior viewpoint, not entry to the lighthouse. Continue along the coastal path to Saint-Guirec beach for a longer rest. If returning on foot, retrace the GR34 to Trestraou and allow roughly another 85 minutes. The route summary below covers the outward walk only.

Suggested breaks: Trestraou 10 minutes, lighthouse 15 minutes, Saint-Guirec 20 minutes. Daylight and settled weather are preferable; avoid exposed sections in strong wind and keep clear of tide-covered rocks. Carry water and a windproof layer. Parking, food and optional transport may cost extra; check current restrictions before departure.
