The long drive is well worth it, with a timed noon entry to Lower Antelope Canyon when sunlight illuminates the canyon’s sculpted sandstone walls, followed by a visit to Horseshoe Bend overlooking the Colorado River. Because Lower Antelope Canyon is located on Navajo Nation land, admission is timed and requires a local Navajo guide, while Horseshoe Bend offers breathtaking views from approximately 1,000 feet above the river and its dramatic 270-degree curve.
- Antelope Canyon is a spectacular slot canyon in the American Southwest, located just east of Page, Arizona, on Navajo Nation land. On this tour, explore Lower Antelope Canyon, known for its narrow sandstone corridors, sculpted rock formations and striking colors created by the interplay of light and shadow. Your timed visit is scheduled around midday, when sunlight filters into the canyon to illuminate its distinctive sandstone walls and create excellent conditions for photography.
- Get ready for one of the most unforgettable views of your Arizona day trip at Horseshoe Bend, where the Colorado River makes a dramatic 270-degree curve around towering sandstone cliffs. Follow the easy 1.5-mile (2.4-km) round-trip trail to the overlook, where sweeping views of the river and desert landscape create an incredible backdrop for photos you’ll want to share. Don’t miss the chance to capture this iconic Southwest landscape from above - it’s the kind of view that makes you stop, take out your camera and remember exactly why you came.
- Enjoy scenic views of Lake Powell as you travel through the dramatic landscapes of northern Arizona. Watch for glimpses of the expansive blue reservoir surrounded by towering red-rock cliffs and sandstone formations, creating a striking contrast against the desert landscape. Keep your camera ready as you pass through this spectacular part of the Southwest on your way to Horseshoe Bend and Lower Antelope Canyon.
- Drive through the spectacular Virgin River Gorge, a dramatic canyon carved through the desert landscape by the Virgin River. As the road winds between towering rock walls and rugged red-rock formations, take in the striking scenery of this unique stretch of the American Southwest. Keep your camera ready as you travel through the gorge - it’s an impressive landscape to experience from the road on your journey to Arizona.
